Welcome to the Farmer's Wife!Thank you for visiting the internet home of The Farmer's Wife Soaps. This must mean that you have an interest in hand-crafted soaps and body care products. So do we! I began making my own soap at home in 2000 because I liked the idea of hand-crafting something that most of us take for granted every day. Making soap went hand-in-hand with making my own jams and pickles from homegrown or locally grown produce. These pioneer arts appealed to me on several levels; I provided quality body care products and food to my friends and family, supported local farmers and gardeners, and revived art forms that are falling further and further away each year. In 2005 the opportunity to purchase a business that would allow me to gain a wider audience for these items fell into my lap and I became “the farmer’s wife”. Continuing a tradition that started with the business’ founding in 1993, The Farmer’s Wife makes hand-crafted soap the old fashioned way, combining pure vegetable oils, water, and lye, with scents and botanicals to please the eye and the soul. Now located in the historic Warehouse Mall in downtown Missoula, Montana, we manufacture our soaps using tried and true recipes and the best possible ingredients. In these web pages you will find our hand-crafted soaps and other body care products, plus items provided by other companies that we feel can add to your own personal spa experience. These items include bath accessories, imported sarongs from around the world, hand-made pottery, and teas and coffees blended and roasted in Montana. Take a look at our offerings. I’m sure you’ll find something for yourself or as a gift for a friend or family member. We look forward to growing with you, our valued customers, and providing quality, variety, and fun. Sincerely, Paula Hoffer Raines, Owner |
